Reset a Merriam-Webster Account Password

Modified on Mon, 17 Jun, 2024 at 12:30 PM

You can reset your Merriam-Webster user log-in account password at any time here: https://www.merriam-webster.com/forgot-password. If you know your current password, you may also reset it by logging into your account and going to More > Account > Change Password.

If you are attempting to reset your account password and you are not receiving the necessary email, make sure that you have a Merriam-Webster user log-in account. Please note that having a subscription to our Word of the Day newsletter or our Merriam-Webster Dictionary mobile app does not automatically create a user log-in account for you. If you aren't positive whether or not you have an account, try registering a new account using the email address you believe is associated with the account. (You can register an account here: https://www.merriam-webster.com/register). If your email address is accepted in the "Email" field, there is no account currently linked to that address. An error message stating that there is an account linked to that email address indicates that you already have a user log-in account.

If you are a Merriam-Webster Unabridged subscriber, please note that you cannot reset the password to your Unabridged account on Merriam-Webster.com, which uses a separate user log-in system. To reset your Unabridged account password, please go to the Unabridged website, here: https://unabridged.merriam-webster.com/subscriber/password_reset.
